Water & Sewer Rates

Water and Sewer Rates for the Town of Denton

The Finance Department establishes and implements the financial policies and procedures of the Town, invest funds, and handles the deposits and payments of Town revenues and expenditures.

All utilities are billed quarterly, January 1, April 1, July 1, and October 1.
Usage for the Jan., Feb. & Mar. are billed on the April 1st billing.
Usage for Apr., May & June are billed on the July 1st billing, and so on.

State of Maryland Bay Restoration Fund Fee- The BRF is billed quarterly along with the Town’s water/sewer billing. Exemption applications (.pdf) are available.

Water Rates

In Town Users

Base Fee (per unit) $25.00 per quarter
Usage per 1000 gallons $3.45

Out of Town Or Tax Waived Users

Base Fee (per unit) $50.00 per quarter
Usage per 1000 gallons $6.90

Water Turn Off/On fee

During regular hours $50.00
After hours or past 3:30 PM on weekdays $100.00

Water Meter Replacement Fee

All accounts with a water meter that is 1″ or less in size will be billed $10.00 per quarter water meter replacement fee. Accounts that have a larger meter will be responsible for the cost of a new meter at the time of replacement. This cost will be based on the actual meter purchase price.

Sewer Rates

In Town Users

Beginning with October/December 2023 Billing:

Base Fee (per unit) $50.00 per quarter
Usage per 1000 gallons (based on water usage) $8.00

Out of Town Or Tax Waived Users

Beginning with October/December 2023 Billing:

Base Fee (per unit) $100.00 per quarter
Usage per 1000 gallons $16.00

Vacant Lot

Vacant Lot sewer availability Fee $25.00 per quarter

Calls for Utility Service

During regular hours $50.00
After hours or past 3:30 PM on weekdays $100.00

Late Fees are assessed at 1% on the 25th of each month on all past due balances.

Please note service for water will be shut off to properties that have past due water and sewer balances.
