At the April 2, 2026, Denton Town Council Meeting, Town Council members presented Corp. M. Hopkins, of the Caroline County Sheriff's Office and TFC J. Rideout of the Maryland State Police, with a Council Citation in remembrance of K-9 Mattis.
K-9 Mattis played a vital role in law enforcement operations and contributed to the protection of both officers and citizens. He is remembered for coming through when it mattered most.
