Trash Collection Reminder – March 26, 2020

During this very trying time, the Town and Trash Contractor are asking for your cooperation to keep everyone safe from COVID-19. Please follow the existing

Town Codes for Trash collection or your trash may not be collected until the violation is resolved.  

 

Your container will be tagged if the contractor determines it is unsafe or is in violation.

 

Per Town of Denton Code Chapter 64 – Garbage & Trash

 

64-3 F – Items excluded from weekly refuse collection include lawn cuttings, hedge and garden trimmings, tree limbs, leaves, appliances, separately bundled newspaper and cardboard, demolition materials such as shingles, bricks, cement blocks and plaster, hot or cold ashes, explosives, poisons, acids, any caustic substance, automobiles/vehicles, tree stumps, tires and Christmas trees. The Town may provide for a special collection program to dispose of such materials.

Please do not place any items other than trash in your containers,

or the entire container may not be collected until the special collection items are removed from the container(s).

 

64-6 D – All receptacles and lids shall be maintained in a clean and sanitary condition. All trash shall be securely bagged, then placed in approved refuse containers per the requirements in § 64-6A. No loose bags or un-bagged refuse will be collected. Refuse containers shall not be set out for collection containing free liquids or rainwater. They shall be kept free of dead animals, vermin, lice, maggots or the like and unreasonably offensive odors resulting from the lack of cleanliness, animal feces or items which may be infectious or disease-bearing. Receptacles which have become excessively worn or corroded shall be promptly replaced.

 

The trash contractor will not collect any containers that contain loose, un-bagged trash/refuse due to risk of infectious or disease-bearing materials.

 

These Codes will be strictly enforced for the safety of the collection crews.
