Regional Meetings on Maryland’s Watershed

Regional Meetings on Maryland’s Watershed Implementation Plan to Restore the Bay

WHAT:    Maryland is developing a federally required Chesapeake Bay Phase I Watershed Implementation Plan. The six Chesapeake Bay watershed states and the District of Columbia are to submit draft Phase I Watershed Implementation Plan reports by September 1, 2010, to the Environmental Protection Agency in support of the development of the draft and final Chesapeake Bay Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL). A TMDL sets a pollution “diet” for a waterway.

The format of the two-hour meetings being held across the state provides time for those who attend to voice their thoughts.  With that in mind, only limited time will be devoted to background information.  Material on the subject is available for review on EPA's Bay TMDL website.

Who:       Representatives from the Maryland departments of the Environment, Natural Resources, Agriculture, and Planning.

Community groups, environmental scientists and advocates, local government officials, planners, and anyone wishing to participate in this process .
